Preference will be given to students who have an internship with DornerWorks, who are interested in embedded systems, who have demonstrated leadership ability, who have financial need, and/or are entering their junior year. Interested first, second, and third-year students should apply in the Spring semester for the following year.
DornerWorks furthers their involvement with Calvin College and Grand Valley University to include sponsorship annually of the Senior Design Project to promote the art and science of engineering as it is applied to industrial applications. Students are encouraged to work in small cohesive groups to design, build, and test a working prototype to be presented at an open house prior to graduation. Some of the graduated participants are now DornerWorks engineers!
DornerWorks is proud to be an annual sponsor of a table at the Opening Doors Celebration for the Baxter Community Center.
Baxter’s primary goal since its inception in 1969, is addressing immediate needs, assisting individuals to become responsible, productive and self-sufficient, and affirming the positive qualities in individuals and the community.
In addition, DornerWorks provided a private donation which helped launch a new computer lab for the center. This donation helped to contribute 6 new laptops and 1 printer to outfit the new lab which is used to train seniors in computer literacy and execute tax preparation software for their tax service they offer to local residents. Its use was expanded during 2010 to serve other areas of the community as well. DornerWorks is very excited to support the Baxter Community Center in this way because it lines up with our business focus – technology and computers. This allows us to give back to the Grand Rapids community in which we live and work.
We are pleased to be associated with an organization that helps children and families across the globe. We sponsored the 2009 Bethany Open Golf Tournament to help raise awareness of their mission and continually look for opportunities of support.
