Western Michigan and, especially, Grand Rapids is a great place to live, work, and play!
Grand Rapids is a vibrant and growing mid-sized community offering the best of urban attractions and the natural beauty and recreational opportunities of the Lake Michigan region. The Grand Rapids community has a wonderful history of advancing industry, enjoying the outdoors, and encouraging creative growth. From hosting the world-renowned Art Prize competition and celebrity-filled LaughFest to being ranked 3rd in the nation for fun and recreation, Grand Rapids really does have something for everyone. In between the creativity, fun, and laughter that takes place in Grand Rapids, we are also well-known for our micro-brewery culture, evidenced by being named BeerCity USA for two consecutive years (2012-2013)!
Even if the exciting events and attractions of downtown Grand Rapids aren’t for you, the outdoor-lovers of Michigan can still boast that you are never more than 30 minutes from a Michigan state park, state forest campground, or state trail system. Grand Rapids is also just a short drive from the beautiful, sandy beaches of Lake Michigan and has many nearby opportunities for camping, hunting, and fishing. These activities might take place in your backyard or amongst Michigan’s 19.3 million acres of forest land or near one of Michigan’s nearly 63,000 inland lakes. Grand Rapids really does offer the best of many worlds, from the fun and exciting urban hustle-and-bustle to the nearby tranquil and relaxing outdoors.
More kudos for Grand Rapids:
- Lonely Planet: #1 US travel destination in 2014 (higher than Yosemite and Boston!)
- Forbes: #4 in list of America’s Smartest Cities (higher than Washington, San Francisco, and Seattle!)
