Our leaders
The DornerWorks senior management team includes very skilled and experienced people.

After working for seven years at GE Aviation (then Smiths Aerospace), David founded DornerWorks in 2000. Under his leadership, DornerWorks has grown rapidly, doubling in size several times in the first few years. David’s entrepreneurial spirit and skills have been recognized by the Grand Rapids Business Journal with the “40 Under Forty Business Leaders” Award in 2007 and he was the inaugural recipient of the Calvin College MBA Horizon Award, which recognizes outstanding alumni business professionals. David holds Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering, Physics and Mathematics from Calvin College, and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from MSU.

Todd is an experienced, well-rounded manager with 15 years of experience in product development. Todd has proven development and business savvy, having run and grown his own business before joining DornerWorks. In the three years Todd has been a part of DornerWorks, he has demonstrated his leadership by successfully directing teams for a number of clients in the aerospace, medical, and automotive arenas. In addition to his design skills, Todd has a strong background in testing and quality assurance. Todd is a principal in the company and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Calvin College.

Jeff joined DornerWorks in 2004 after 14 years as a business manager for a variety of organizations in New York City. During this time, he honed his skills leading these multi-million dollar businesses in human resources and financial administration. Jeff returned to Grand Rapids to assist in managing the rapid expansion of DornerWorks, as well as establishing the development of our professional staff and providing his human resource management skills to the company. Jeff is responsible for all administrative, financial, and human resources activities. Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Communications from Hope College.

Steve is a multi-talented technical expert and entrepreneur who is both a principal of DornerWorks and a Professor of Engineering at Calvin College. Steve has proven expertise in safety-critical hardware and software engineering design and processes, including DO-254 and DO-178B (both to level A). Before joining DornerWorks, he was one of the key architects for a flight-certified network protocol stack at Smiths Aerospace (now GE Aviation). His technical expertise has been recognized by the courts, and he has served as a technical expert for a number of legal firms. He holds an MSEE from Michigan Technological University and a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has published dozens of papers on a variety of technology-related topics. He is also a partner at squishLogic and writes Deus Ex Machina, a periodic blog on technology and Christian faith.

Jason is a senior manager with over two decades of experience at a Fortune 500 company in the management of Sales and Marketing teams on a global basis. Jason has been responsible for helping DornerWorks formalize our supplier relationships with several key leading edge suppliers of semiconductors and, with getting state wide recognition from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). Previously, Jason served in a number of management roles at Arrow Electronics including the General Manager of the Arrow Electronics Transportation Group and Global Program Manager of the Arrow Electronics Alliance Group. Jason holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Central Michigan University.

Fred is a seasoned professional and brings over 26 years of experience to DornerWorks from Delphi Corporation in East Michigan. Fred held several senior management roles, including five years in their medical systems division, along with key management roles in their automotive electronics component divisions. Fred brings a wealth of management and engineering tools including DFMEA, PFMEA, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies. Fred holds a B.S in Electrical Engineering fromLawrence Technological University and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Detroit. Fred is an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and is a two-time patent holder.
