David Dorner presented this paper at the IEEE Coastal Los Angeles Section Meeting
Abstract: David Dorner, President of DornerWorks, Ltd. presented his paper “Life Stories of an Ordinary Guy: How to Grow Your Basement Business into a Multi-Million Dollar Company” at an IEEE Coastal Los Angeles Section meeting on December 14, 2009. Agile for Aerospace: a GLSEC presentation
November 5, 2008
Three members of the DornerWorks staff (Andrew Buter, Curt Stienstra, and Steve VanderLeest) presented on the topic “Agile for Aerospace” at the 2008 Great Lakes Software Excellence Conference (http://www.glsec.org).
Abstract: Although the DO-178B aerospace standard does not prohibit non-waterfall approaches, they are almost unheard of in this industry because the standard is organized in a clearly waterfall fashion. However, software development for the aerospace industry suffers all the classic problems that Agile addresses, such as changing and abstract requirements, the need for earlier feedback, the need for more predictability (i.e., fewer surprises late in the game), and the need for clearer communication between the various tiers of subcontractors in large, complex aerospace projects.
EDSLs for Unmanned Autonomous Verification and Validation
April 2, 2009
Lee Pike, Don Stewart (http://www.galois.com) and DornerWorks’ John Van Enk presented this paper at CPS Week 2009′s Workshop on Mixed Criticality.
Abstract: We outline a new approach to the verification and validation (V & V) of safety-critical avionics based on the use of executable lightweight domain specific languages – domain-specific languages hosted directly in an existing high-level programming language. We provide examples of LwDSLs used in industry today, and then we describe the advantages of LwDSLs in V & V. We argue the approach promises substantial automation and cost-reduction in V & V.
