DornerWorks provided key assistance to Ford’s supplier in developing the FPGA design logic for the Ford Pro Trailer Backup Assist technology. The Ford Pro Trailer Backup Assist technology and its Trailer Angle Detection (TAD) logic leverages advanced camera technology to track trailer position while working seamlessly with a manually controlled trailer-turn knob and the truck’s steering and controls.
DornerWorks helped to develop the FPGA design logic for the TAD subsystem, along with a development tool. The tool monitors and logs LIN traffic between the ECU and the rear camera. The LIN interface is implemented using a Microchip PIC32, which relays LIN traffic to the Freescale i.MX6 processor in the ECU along with sensor data and some other related data.
